Grooms 12 Month Checklist:
MAKE SURE TO
PLAN AHEAD!!!!!!
10-12 MONTHS PRIOR
Discuss the type of wedding and what budget you
will have to work with,
with your fiancée and ALL both sets of parents
(include step-parents if there are to be
involved with payment arrangements.
Along
with your fiancée start interviewing wedding
consultants, advisors and coordinators.
Take
your fiancée to some wedding shows. You can
usually find them at the local Malls or you
might be able to find them in some of the hotels
that have banquet facilities. Make sure you ask
questions - learn from the people that help with
this kind of planning every week.
If you are planning on having a religious
weeding, remember to talk with you clergy as some
religions might require special pre-wedding
classes for you. Make sure to write down all of
your questions before meeting with him/her so
that you do not forget anything.
4-6 MONTHS PRIOR
This is the time to look
for your wedding rings.
Finalize honeymoon plans with fiancée and book
with travel agent.
Make sure you get the family's guest
list (from both/all sets of parents) and go over it with your fiancée.
Decide if you are to have an all adult reception
or if children will be attending.
Reserve the wedding transportation -
limousines, horse-drawn carriages, trolley's, tractors....etc.
Make
rehearsal dinner plans and put deposit on room
so that it will be held (make sure you
coordinate this with your fiancée).
2-3 MONTHS PRIOR
Now is the time to order your wedding rings!!
Order the men's formal wear.
Finish and send out guest list with your fiancée.
Shop for a wedding present for your groomsmen.
Shop for any additional clothes you will need
for the wedding events and the honeymoon.
Reserve a block of rooms for your out-of-town
guests (make sure you handle this for your
fiancée).
4-8 WEEKS PRIOR
Check finances and make final arrangements for
payment on the items you (and you family) are
responsible for.
Confirm that all fittings (clothes) are
completed by groomsmen and father.
Make sure at
this time that you have the wedding rings in
your possession.
2-3 WEEKS PRIOR
Get marriage license with fiancée.
Reconfirm honeymoon reservations.
Confirm all transportation for all events.
Make appointment to get hair cut. Try to set the
appointment within 2-3 days before the wedding.
1 WEEK PRIOR
TILL THE WEDDING DAY
Plans to give the gifts
to your groomsmen at the rehearsal dinner.
Reconfirm the rehearsal dinner plans with
everyone.
Give the best man (at the rehearsal dinner) an
envelope with the clergy's fee (he'll pass it on
after the ceremony).
Sit down and go over a wedding day schedule with
your fiancée.
Make sure wedding clothes are
ready and then remind the groomsmen to pick
up their tuxedos.
Arrange now for going away
clothes to be taken to the reception location.
Pack for your honeymoon.
Put marriage license and rings where you can
easily find them.
